Success for “Sem” at All Ireland Mini-Company Finals, Naas, Co. Kildare

On the 28th April the T.Y mini-co “Quench Patrol” participated in the national finals of the Transition Year Get Up and Go competition which was held in the Osprey Hotel, Naas, Co. Kildare. This was as a direct result of winning the regional finals in Donegal earlier this year. Each team competing was required to set up a stand displaying their company and detailing how they designed, marketed and sold their product or service. The St. Macartans team produced and sold personalised sports water bottles with the school crest printed on the front. The standard was extremely high with thirty two companies competing and products ranging from central locking systems to personalised gum shields. The judging lasted 3 hours during which time company members were asked about various aspects of their business and product. In addition to this the day offered students the chance to learn from the other companies about their experience and thoughts on starting up a business. Prizes were awarded in the five categories of; marketing, best accounts, quality of product, originality, and best stand. Overall the day proved to be very successful for the St Macartans team. They won an award in the marketing category coming second place, taking home a decorative piece of silverware for the college. The students have put a lot of work into the company throughout the year under the guidance of their business teacher Ms. Mc Colgan. On the 14th may they will travel to the national finals of the Co. Enterprise Board competition. We congratulate “Quench Patrol” on their achievement and wish them every success in the future.
