The Parents Association are organising a Fund Raising Draw:

TY Exchange Trip
After consultation with the Principal the TY exchange trip was changed from Holland to France to help students in their study of the language. The school provided the students with extra tuition in conversational Frenc to prepare them for their trip.
Law Day
Mr. Paul Mc Cormack of the Parents Association Committee was actively involved in coaching the school's law day team for the World Law Day competition held last October in New York.
School Bags
As a result of parents concerns regarding the weight of school bags, the school is currently looking at ways of reducing the number of books students carry to and from school. This will see the book rental scheme become available to 1st., 2nd. and 3rd. years for the next academic year and the availability of school books via computer discs for use at home.
Career Guidance
As a result of a request from the Parents Association a Career Guidance and CAO/UCAS information evening was held for 5th. and 6th. year students.
A Careers Day for 4th. and 5th. year students will take place in the school on May 20th.
Bus Shelter
The Parents Association is in discussion with school management regarding the provision of a bus shelter at the school bus stop.

At the A.G.M. Shane Martin, former pupil and teacher of St. Macartan's gave an interesting talk on the stresses aassociated with teenagers. His presentation was very well received by those present.
The Parents Association raised €19,000 to pay the palance on the school's E-Portal computer system. The funds were raised at the Golf Classic held at Rossmore Golf Club.

At the A.G.M. of the Parents Association the following people were elected to represent parents for the 2007/08 school year. The 1st. Year representatives will be Pauline Mc Mahon and Melissa Holland, 2nd. Year representatives will be Amanda Lynch and Samina Ashraf, 3rd. Year representatives, Maria Mc Kenna and Dolores Deeney, 4th. Year Joan Caldwell and Kevin Mc Carey, 5th. Year Noreen Bell and Eamon Mc Kernan, 6th. Year Gerry Mc Phillips and Joe Smith. The teachers ' representatives will be Ms. Derbhil Brady, Mr. Seamus Meehan and Mr. R. Mc Hugh.
The Parents Association elected Mr. Joe Smith as chairperson, Ms Noreen Bell as secretary and Ms. Joan Caldwell as treasurer.

Presentations to Mr. V. Lee & Mrs A. Lee at the P.A. Annual Dance in The Westenra Hotel
The Annual General Meeting of the St. Macartan’s College Parents Association was held in the college on Tuesday night last. The parents in attendance heard a very interesting presentation from members of Garda Siochána Divisional Drug Squad, ‘Would you know if your son was on drugs?’ It led to a wide-ranging discussion and was agreed to have been extremely useful.
The Chairperson of the Parents Association, Mr. Noel Harraghy, presented a wide-ranging address while there were comprehensive reports from Secretary Patricia McMahon and Treasurer Tina Rooney. Mr. Harraghy, on behalf of the Parents Association, presented a cheque for €4,500 to the school which will be used mainly for the purchase of additional laptops and data projectors.
