Peace III: Reading and Reflection Programme
Peace III: World War 1 Project with Monaghan Collegiate. Twelve students from St. Macartan's College and eight from Monaghan Collegiate will work together to investigate the involvement of young people from the North Monaghan area in WW1 The project will be led from St. Macartan's by Ms. R. Mc Skean and Mr. D. Mc Aree . After completing their research the students from both schools will travel to Belgium to view battle sites, museums and monuments in March.

Conversations with Africa: TY Geography class with eight other schools North and South involving a study of a number of ecological issues in Developing Countries















Sustainable Energy Project: with the assistance of S.E.I. (Sustainable Energy Ireland) a group of T.Y. students from Mr. Conaty's Physics class, look at energy consumption in St. Macartan's College and the feasibility of putting a wind turbine on site to generate electricity. The students also took light readings in a number of classrooms throughout the school using a lux meter. These readings will be compared against light levels for classrooms as recommended by S.E.I with a view to recommending a more energy efficient lighting plan for classrooms. two areas where the number of lights has been reduced are the Social Area and the school Library where half the lights are now in use compared to what was in use in the past.
